A veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of Youngstown University, Mr. Christ founded and operated 28 companies and/or corporations. In 1967, he sold most of his interests and retired. Then in 1975, he began trading his own account. By 1980, he provided investment research advice to investment advisors. After receiving his SEC license as an investment advisor in 1988, he accepted clients with a $250,000 minimum investment. Their combined portfolios exceeded $15,000,000.

Annual return on Mr. Christ's investments averaged 20.2% between 1988 and 1994. During those years, assets were parked in a money market fund during down periods since there were no short mutual funds. In 1994, Rydex Funds introduced mutual funds that permitted earning in both up and down markets. Beginning in 1994, Mr. Christ began investing with the Rydex Funds and began accepting clients on the Internet. Mr. Christ's method of investing is based on 32 years of experience. He looks for opportunities both long and short that fit the vision of the direction of the stock market.   Mr. Christ has used this form of investing since 1975. Mr. Christ says of his philosophy,

I developed this market timing method of investing for my own assets and now use it for all of my clients. My first goal is protection of assets and my second goal is appreciation of capital.

Most of the time we are either long in S&P 500 2x Strategy or short in Inverse S&P 500 2x Strategy. There are a few times when we feel that the stock market is in a consolidation and moving mostly sideways. When we are not confident of the direction of the breakout, we will ‘park’ for a short time in the money market fund. All client accounts and all of my own investment assets are traded at the same time and to the same mutual fund. Of course, it doesn’t matter to us which way the market is moving as long as we are on the right side of it.

One of the greatest benefits of this market timing philosophy comes when our stock market suffers a prolonged downturn, as had the Japanese stock market with its five-and-a-half year loss of 53%, the Hong Kong market slide of 64%, the Latin American markets with a 55% drop, and the collapse of many far-eastern economies. We will hopefully not suffer the same calamity as those of the buy-and-hold method. We should prosper from the disaster because of our ability to earn in a falling stock market as well as in a rising stock market.
